On Valentine’s Day, A Woman’s Concern opened its purple doors to warmly welcome some of our community partners. Representatives from Water Street Mission, Career Link, and a variety of other Lancaster County organizations were invited to learn more about the services we offer and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in the future.
Our day began with a Valentine’s Day-themed breakfast, followed by an overview of A Woman’s Concern—our mission to build a community where families are strong, and life is cherished. Afterward, we led our guests through a powerful simulation, providing a fly-on-the-wall experience of what a client would go through when walking through our doors. Two of our brave clients generously shared their journey with us, giving a glimpse into a day in the life of an AWC client.
As we exited the Hope House, we followed our clients through the familiar purple doors, where they were greeted by our welcoming front desk receptionist. They then met with their advocate in one of our private rooms, where Risy explained what would happen during the medical appointment. Then two members of our skilled medical team, Wanda and Lea, explained the pregnancy test and ultrasound. Meanwhile, down the hall, Mike took the opportunity to speak with our client’s partner, addressing any concerns and offering support. The couple left with a deep sense of confidence, knowing they could rely on AWC for guidance, encouragement, and support in choosing life. The next day in our simulation, they returned to join our Strong Families Program.
We were truly blessed to share the heart of what we do at AWC with our community partners. Many expressed surprise at the full range of services we provide, and they left with a renewed excitement about our partnership knowing that together we can make a lasting impact on our community.
